United Shore has all the cool workplace perks you'd expect at a company whose CEO once played for Michigan State men's basketball coach Tom Izzo.
An expansive fitness center on-site at the wholesale mortgage lender's impressive Troy headquarters. A spot where you can rent a bike to take a break off-site. Two VIP rooms where star performers earn a chance to unwind and play Pop-a-Shot, a basketball arcade game.
But President and CEO Mat Ishbia says he doesn't want his team — now at about 2,250 employees — hanging around indefinitely and working 60 hours a week or more. Workplace perks at United Shore are designed to maximize performance — not entice people to never leave the office.
"We want everybody working 40 hours and they're gone," Ishbia said. "We want people to take a lunch every day."
