Six months ago, Mat Ishbia awoke from a fitful sleep worrying about his headquarters in Troy. The 275,000-square-foot office space had grown too small for United Shore's 2,100 employees and threatened to suffocate Ishbia's expansion plans. Staring at the ceiling, he told himself, "You better find someplace new, because this isn't going to end well."
The question, 'What keeps you up at night?" was posed to Ishbia, president and CEO of the mortgage wholesale giant, hours after he announced United Shore's move to a 60-acre campus in Pontiac.
